The Percy Harvin story just reached a new level of bizarre. Sunday morning on Fox NFL Kickoff, Jay Glazer reported that before Seattle went on their Super Bowl run in 2013, the team reached out to another former Viking to replace the injured Harvin on their roster.

Which former Viking do you think got the call from Seattle? No, not Bobby Wade.
One Randy Moss.
It sounds crazy, but it’s true. Moss himself confirmed it right after Glazer reported it. Moss declined the Seahawks’ offer even though it would have meant a nice paycheck and another chance to play in the Super Bowl.
The Seahawks would of course go on to make the Super Bowl and win it with legitimate help from Percy Harvin. But it could have been Moss instead of Harvin pulling in that ring courtesy of the Seahawks’ defense.
Moss’ two previous shots in a Super Bowl came up short when his Patriots were upset by the Giants, and later his 49ers were beaten by the Ravens. Before that Moss twice made it to the NFC title game, both times with the Vikings, only to lose.
I wonder how tempted Moss was to take up the Seahawks on their offer. Of course at that point, Moss was only a shadow of his former self. It’s unlikely he would have made much impact on the field for Seattle.
But you never know. With Moss, it only took one play. Maybe he burns a DB in the Super Bowl for a touchdown, gets his ring, gets his moment of glory.
He never got that chance because he decided to stay home instead of crank it up one last time in Seattle. What a plot twist that would have been, Randy Moss stepping in for Percy Harvin.
