Vikings Overcome Injuries, Turnovers to Lead Bills 13-10 at Half

Things did not exactly go smoothly for the Vikings in the first half against the Bills.

That is putting it mildly. At times it actually seemed like things were headed right for the crapper.

But thanks to some scrappiness from the quarterback and some ball-hawking from the defense, the Vikings were able to pull themselves out of the quicksand and take a 3-point lead into halftime.

Teddy Bridgewater brought the Vikings back to life with a trio of pass completions culminating in his first career TD on a quick screen to Cordarrelle Patterson.

Before that, Bridgewater had been picked off twice, one on a flukey deflection and the second on an attempted out route to Adam Thielen that Teddy didn’t deliver with enough anticipation or zip.

Bridgewater didn’t get down on himself after the mistakes. Instead, he came back hard.

The Vikings really looked like they were in a tailspin before the TD to Patterson. Besides the two interceptions, they’d also suffered the loss of starting linemen John Sullivan and Vlad Ducasse to injuries.

The fact that Bridgewater was operating behind a make-shift O-line made his success in the second quarter all the more impressive.

The Vikings’ defense has had a nice day too, producing three takeaways: two fumble recoveries and a pick.

Robert Blanton’s interception of Kyle Orton with under two minutes left set up Blair Walsh to bomb one from 55 yards and give the Vikes the lead.

The Bills’ sole touchdown came when Sammy Watkins torched Captain Munnerlyn. Same crap from Captain.

Second half? We’ll see if the Vikes can keep taking the ball away, and if Teddy can avoid giving it away.
