The Minnesota Vikings have some, um, very interesting history with Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown.

But the Vikings it appears will miss McCown when they play Tampa Bay this weekend. McCown is back at practice after missing a couple weeks with a sprained thumb but backup Mike Glennon is expected to start nonetheless.
McCown didn’t exactly light it up before the injury and a good case could be made that Glennon should remain the starter even when McCown gets healthy.
The 35-year-old McCown was a feel-good story in 2013 when he took over for Jay Cutler and led the Bears on a surprise run. McCown’s unexpected production enabled him to sign a 2-year deal with Tampa worth $10 million.
Like a lot of things for Tampa Bay this year, McCown hasn’t worked out. Now Tampa seems to be tilting toward becoming Glennon’s team.
Unless McCown gets another shot and regains some of the 2013 magic, his feel-good story seems destined to end on a sour note.
Once upon a time, McCown broke Viking fan hearts when as a member of the Cardinals he hit Nate Poole for a game-winning last-second TD to knock Minnesota out of the playoffs.
But I didn’t need to remind you of that, did I?
