Twitter has used follower data to create a map of NFL fandom, and some interesting findings have come to light as a result of their efforts.

For example, there appear to be two counties in Minnesota that do not consider the Vikings their favorite team. What are these two traitor counties?
One county, Cook in the far northeastern corner of the state, leans to the Packers. The other county, Kanabec, situated just north of the Twin Cities, is Cowboys Country.
Twitter’s data show 16% support for the Dallas Cowboys in Kanabec to just 11% for the Vikings.
This is weird and seemingly random. So random I have to wonder if Twitter hasn’t screwed up their map somehow.
Could it just be a mistake? Or is Kanabec County, Minnesota really Cowboys Country?
And if it is Cowboys Country, WHY is it Cowboys Country? Why does that county in the heart of Minnesota lean so heavily toward that team?
Folks living in Kanabec County, can you confirm relatively heavy support for the Cowboys in your area? And if you can, to what do you attribute this strange allegiance?
Is there some demographic thing at work? A lot of former Texans living there? The whole thing is mysterious to me. There must be some explanation.
As for the Packer-leaning Cook County…I guess it’s only fair that there should be one Packer county in Minnesota, since there’s one Viking county in Wisconsin.
Douglas County is Vikings Country? How does that make you feel, Wisconsin peeps?
Feel free to vent about the TV situation in Northern Wisconsin while you’re at it. We know how many Packer fans are pissed the hell off over that.
