Half a season is in the books for the Vikings. It’s been a rough season in a lot of ways but the Vikes have managed to squeak out a perfectly respectable 3-5 record in spite of it all.

Should be 4-4 but, Chad Greenway couldn’t keep his head in the game against Buffalo. Whatever.
With 8 games in the books, this is the perfect time to run down the Vikings roster and see where every player is at. Let’s rank the 53 men currently on the active roster, from 53 to #1.
This won’t be easy but I think we can do it.
53-41
53. David Yankey
Fans keep wondering where this guy is. He was drafted high enough that folks thought he might have a chance to bump Charlie Johnson. Doesn’t look like it.
52. Zach Line
A feel-good comeback story, but with Jerome Felton, Matt Asiata and Rhett Ellison on the roster, it’s hard to see this guy getting any action.
51. Brandon Watts
Rookie learning from the bench.
50. Scott Crichton
Has gotten a few snaps here and there. Only way he cracks the rotation is if someone gets hurt.
49. Shaun Prater
They haven’t needed him yet, which is just as well.
48. Antone Exum
The rook is one more special teams penalty away from being sent packing.
47. Joe Banyard
A couple fans are still wondering why he doesn’t get a shot. He looked so good in preseason garbage time against defenses that weren’t trying.
46. Christian Ponder
Started one game, against the Packers at Lambeau, and looked as bad as you remember. Actually worse. He’s that ugly set of drapes that bugged you as a kid that your mom refuses to get rid of.
45. Austin Wentworth
Has seen a little action in relief.
44. MarQueis Gray
Has gotten in there a little, but not much. The Kyle Rudolph injury really didn’t open up much of a door for him.
43. Jabari Price
The rookie hasn’t had a chance to do much.
42. Charles Johnson
The Vikings have tried him as a deep receiver but Teddy Bridgewater just can’t connect with him.
41. Adam Thielen
Gritty. Gutty.
