Adrian Peterson’s legal case may be resolved but his non-legal problems just continue mounting, on and on and on.

While Adrian waits for the NFL to make up its mind whether to suspend him, a process that may drag on indefinitely, he has learned that long-time corporate partner Nike will no longer have him on board as a spokesman.
Peterson’s Nike relationship went back many years and resulted in some pretty memorable campaigns, none more so than the famous ad directed by David Fincher where Peterson turned into some kind of weird football playing lizard-dude.
The whole premise of that spot was that Adrian had a beastly alter ego. Subsequent events have demonstrated this to be much more true than we ever would have guessed.
It’s interesting that Nike had only suspended Peterson’s contract initially, but waited until after his plea deal to actually terminate him.
Apparently Nike was not satisfied with the way things played out. The NFL is now in the process of making up its mind how severe Peterson’s infractions were from a personal conduct policy standpoint and how much punishment he deserves.
It’s looking more likely that a suspension is coming for AD. If the NFL drags the process out long enough, they can for all intents and purposes suspend Peterson for the rest of the season.
And though the Vikings wouldn’t get Peterson back at all, they would still have to pay him for the duration of his stay on the exempt list. Kind of a raw deal for Zygi Wilf. At this point, Wilf might prefer an official suspension and some kind of financial relief.
