The wheels seem to finally be moving for Adrian Peterson. Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer reports that Peterson will have a hearing on Monday in the matter of his reinstatement from the exempt list. This after the NFLPA filed a grievance on Peterson’s behalf, arguing that Peterson’s rights under the CBA have been breached.

In the short-term, this means Peterson definitely will not be on the field for the Vikings this weekend against the Bears. There had been hope that Peterson might be reinstated in time for the game but that possibility has now been ruled out.
By the time Peterson has his hearing, there will be only six games left on the schedule for the Vikings. A six-game suspension has been discussed as a possibility for Peterson.
A coincidence that the NFL means to put off making a decision until there are exactly six games left on the schedule?
If the NFLPA has their way, the NFL will not get to shut Peterson down for the remainder of the season. They will surely argue that the games Peterson has already missed, plus a hefty fine, will be sufficient punishment.
The matter remains cloaked in many layers of uncertainty, but at least now we have a concrete date for when a hearing will happen. One hopes that a decision will come quickly thereafter, but with the NFL you never can tell.
