And don’t let’s even talk about the guy playing left tackle. He’s not injured but he might as well be, the way he’s been playing.
Needing depth badly, the Vikings have reportedly tried out a pair of veteran tackles. How do J’Marcus Webb and Eric Winston strike your fancy?
J’Marcus Webb will be very familiar to fans, having played for the Vikings in 2013. Before that Webb played for the Bears and was famously whipped several times by Jared Allen on the last day of the season during Allen’s failed pursuit of Michael Strahan’s sack record.
Eric Winston is a journeyman tackle with stops in Houston, Kansas City, Arizona and Seattle. As a footnote, he is the current president of the NFLPA having taken over that role in March 2014.
The Vikings right now have Mike Harris penciled in as their starting right tackle with only UDFA Austin Wentworth behind him.
Look for the Vikes to bring in either Webb or Winston – or perhaps somebody else – in the next day or two. They need bodies and at this point beggars can’t be choosers.
