It was one year ago that ground was broken on a new stadium for the state of Minnesota. The past home of the Minnesota Vikings was demolished following the 2013 season, leaving them to play at the University of Minnesota until this new stadium is completed.
Although only one year has passed since the ground breaking, a lot has been done on the site of the future home of the Vikings. Since the Wilf family, Adrian Peterson, and several other Minnesota officials took that first shovel full of dirt, a lot of hard work has gone into this stadium.
Mall of America Field found itself demolished to make room for the new stadium. It was fun, yet a bit sad to watch the roof of the old stadium be deflated. Things felt even more real when the demolition happened, with the Vikings selling off parts of the stadium to fans all over the world.
Since then, the metal beams of the new stadium have been put into place and the project is really beginning to take shape. Construction is coming along at an amazing pace considering the size and magnitude of the undertaking.
For a time lapse video of what has been done on the new stadium’s construction, be sure to visit the Minnesota Vikings official page. The video shows just how much has been done on the stadium and the huge steps that were taken along the way.
It won’t be too much longer before the Vikings have a new, modern facility to host their games. Vikings fans everywhere should be looking forward to attending a game in the new Stadium during the 2016 season.
