The Vikings game against the Jets went into overtime, where the Jets won the coin toss and earned the first possession. After a defensive stop by Minnesota, the Jets punted the ball. Minnesota took over on offense from their own 13 yard line in a game where the next score would win the game.
Minnesota only needed one play though. Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw a strike to Jarius Wright on a screen with blockers in front of him. Wright broke a tackle and outran the rest of the Jets defense to the end zone for an 87 yard walk off touchdown win on Sunday.
Here are Bridgewater’s competition for the award:
Andrew Luck, QB – Indianapolis Colts
- The prolific Colts quarterback led Indianapolis to a come from behind victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Luck led a drive down the field with time running out and completed a touchdown pass to T.Y. Hilton to win the game.
Drew Stanton, QB – Arizona Cardinals
- Stanton tossed a 26 yard touchdown pass to Jaron Brown to give the Cardinals a 17-14 win. The win moved Arizona to 7-0 record at home this year and 10-3 on the season.
If Bridgewater can win the award, this would be his second GMC Never Say Never award. His first win came in the Vikings week 9 win over the Washington Redskins.
