Mauti has had many problems staying healthy over the course of his football career. He suffered a third torn ACL while playing his college ball at Penn State, causing him to slip to the 7th round in the 2013 NFL Draft. So there’s really no surprise that knee problems will have him placed on Injured Reserve this year. He will require a scope of his knee, but should be good to go for the Vikings 2015 training camp.
Michael Mauti appeared in 9 games for the Vikings this season, mostly in a limited role on special teams. Here were his statistics for 2014:
- 4 solo tackles
- 1 assisted tackle
To take Mauti’s spot on the Minnesota Vikings active roster, offensive tackle Carter Bykowski was signed off the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. With the lack of depth at the offensive tackle position, any player that can help out there would be a big help.
We at The Viking Age would like to wish Mauti a speedy and full recovery and we look forward to seeing him at Minnesota’s 2015 training camp.
