Vikings Finale Vs Bears Determines NFC North Basement

The Minnesota Vikings will have their hands full on Sunday with a Chicago Bears team that defeated them 21-13 back on November 16th of this year.  While both teams will be playing for pride at this point since they both have been eliminated from playoff contention, there will be a bit more on the line during this game.

The top two teams in the NFC North (Green Bay and Detroit) will have their game determine which one will get a first round bye in the playoffs and which one will have to play a wild card game.  And the bottom two teams (Minnesota and Chicago) will play to see which team will reside the division’s basement.

Minnesota is currently sitting at 6-9 after suffering back-to-back losses against the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins.  Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears are sitting at 5-10 in the middle of a four game slide that has found them losing to the Lions twice, as well as the Saints and Cowboys.

A Chicago win would would make both the Bears and the Vikings 6-10 on the year, but Chicago would win the tiebreaker because of the two wins in their head-to-head matchups.

A Minnesota win would make the Vikings 7-9  and leave the Bears at 5-11.  Making Chicago the last place team in the NFC North.  The win would also give the Vikings their first division win this year, and no team likes to be swept in their own division.

While the game between Chicago and Minnesota may seem meaningless on paper, but it is more meaningful than many people think.  These two teams will be fighting hard not to be the team with the worst record in the NFC North.  It should be an entertaining game to watch on Sunday.
