The Vikings defeated the Bears 13-9 on Sunday in a game that saved the Vikings from being swept in the division and ending up in last place in the NFC North. One of the headlining performances of that game was Bridgewater’s play at quarterback. Here were his statistics for the game:
- 25 pass attempts
- 17 completions
- 68% completion rate
- 209 passing yards
- 1 passing touchdown
- 1 interception
- 6 carries
- 16 rushing yards
Bridgewater will face some very tough competition for the week 17 Rookie of the Week award. Here are the players he is up against:
Odell Beckham Jr. – New York Giants, Wide Receiver
- 12 catches for 185 yards and one touchdown
Terrance West – Cleveland Browns, Running Back
- 18 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown
Jordan Matthews – Philadelphia Eagles, Wide Receiver
- 8 catches for 104 yards and a touchdown
Telvin Smith – Jacksonville Jaguars, Linebacker
- 16 total tackles
Personally, I don’t see anyone other than Odell Beckham Jr. winning this award, but I’ve been wrong when predicting Pepsi Rookie of the Week awards before. This is the 4th time Teddy Bridgewater has been nominated for the award. If Bridgewater does win, it will be his third Pepsi Rookie of the Week award win.
Despite not being my personal choice for the award, I’d like to congratulate Teddy Bridgewater and the Minnesota Vikings on the nomination and wish him the best of luck in the voting.
