Minnesota Vikings: Key Offseason Dates

Minnesota Vikings fans shouldn’t be too worried about a lack of activity this offseason. There looks to be quite a bit going on leading up to Super Bowl 49, the 2015 NFL Draft and Free Agency. While the dates of some of the team specific activities like Training Camp and Preseason Games are currently unknown, there are several dates in place that we do know.
Here are some key offseason dates that Minnesota Vikings fans should be aware of:
January
- 17: East/West Shrine Game
- 18: AFC and NFC Championship Games
- 21: Senior Bowl
- 25: 2015 Pro Bowl

February
- 1: Super Bowl 49
- 2: Waiver system begins for released players
- 16: First day to Franchise or Transition Tag a player
- 20-23: Rookie Scouting Combine
March
- 2: Final day to designate Franchise or Transition Tags
- 10: Free Agency and Trading Open
- 10: Final day to exercise 2015 options on contracts
- 10: Salary Cap comes into effect
- 22-25: Annual Meeting
- NFL Veteran Combine (Date not set)

- Offseason Program Begins
- 30: First Day of the 2015 NFL Draft
May
- 1: NFL Draft Day 2
- 2: NFL Draft Day 3
- 8-12: Spring Meeting
- Rookie Premiere
June
- 22-27: Rookie Orientation
July
- Training Camp Begins
- 15: Final day to sign a Franchised player to deal
- 22: Final day to sign a Transitioned player to deal
It all starts tonight, with the East/West Shrine Game. This is a glimpse at some of the smaller school players and other talented athletes who weren’t invited to the 2015 Senior Bowl. Over time, we’ll learn more about all the young men through the Senior Bowl, Combine, and the NFL Draft.
