Report: Minnesota Vikings To Discuss FA WR Mike Williams?

facebooktwitterreddit

Earlier today, we shared the report that the Minnesota Viking were going to meet with Hadley Engelhard when the team goes to Indianapolis, Indiana for the combine.  Engelhard is the agent for Minnesota Vikings cornerback Captain Munnerlyn.  According to a tweet from ESPN 1500’s Darren Wolfson on Twitter, they will catch up during the events.

Here is the tweet from Wolfson about Hadley Engelhard meeting with the Vikings at the combine:

While Captain Munnerlyn is the main topic of discussion according to the tweet, it is interesting to note that Mike Williams was tacked onto it.  Williams was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010 before going to Buffalo for the 2014 season.  He was released in December of 2014 after a calf injury kept him out of action.

Mike Williams could be an interesting addition to the Minnesota Vikings.  He’s got a big body that could be a great target for young quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.  At 6’2″ and 212 pounds, he has the height that is lacking with most of the other team’s wide receivers.

It is expected that Hadley Engelhard will try to get his client signed for the 2015 NFL season and will take this opportunity to present the merits of Mike Williams to several NFL teams.  It has already been reported that the agent of Mike Williams is scheduled to meet with 6 different teams at the combine.

It will be interesting to see if the Vikings decide to kick the tires on Mike Williams or if there will just be some exploratory talk done about him.  Hopefully, we’ll find out more when the combine rolls around.
