NFL Draft: Vikings Reportedly ‘Love’ Michigan State CB Trae Waynes

The Minnnesota Vikings are currently flirting with a whole bunch of different draft prospects who could be available at 11 but there’s only one guy they truly love.

Forget about all those other players, says Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller. It’s Trae Waynes who has won the Vikings’ hearts (via Bleacher Report):

"The Michigan State cornerback checks all the boxes for Mike Zimmer’s defense. He’s long, he’s fast and he’s able to play physical at the line of scrimmage. Waynes is a player I have rated closer to the end of the first round because he doesn’t have the great strength in his lower body and his agility numbers were very sub-par. But he is someone Zimmer loves and fits what they have with Xavier Rhodes on the other side."

It’s interesting to note that Mel Kiper in his most recent mock draft also gave Trae Waynes to the Vikings at 11. That’s two folks with apparent inside knowledge who are feeling strong Waynes-to-Vikings buzz.

Going by the buzz on Twitter, I’m guessing the majority of Viking fans would be happy with Waynes as the pick at 11. After the Terence Newman signing, the Vikes would have the luxury of bringing Waynes along slowly. We know how steep that cornerback learning curve can be.
