While this statement is debatable, I would definitely feel comfortable saying that Bud Grant is the best head coach that the Minnesota Vikings have ever had. Under his guidance from 1967-1983 and one year back in 1985, the Vikings had their best winning percentage as a squad (62.1%), netted 11 division championships, 4 conference championships and led the team to the 1969 NFL Championship. Bud Grant is even so well-respected in Minnesota that they named a section of the street next to the stadium in his honor.
But these days, Bud Grant is popular for his huge garage sales and the fact that he just joined the social networking site Twitter. And we found out in a tweet from Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press today that it’s definitely not a coincidence that Twitter and the garage sale are so close together.
Here is what he tweeted:
Tomasson went on to talk about Grant’s twitter account and confirmed that he’s got some help managing his Twitter account.
But perhaps the funniest (or saddest, depending on how you look at it) thing that Bud Grant said according to Tomasson was in regards to whether or not there would be a garage sale next year for fans to attend.
Dark humor is great. Especially when it comes from a legend like Bud Grant. But I don’t want to think of the best coach in the history of the Minnesota Vikings passing away. Hopefully around this time next year, Grant will be making the same jokes and getting ready to host another ocean of Vikings fans at his next garage sale.
