Teddy Bridgewater: It’s ‘Too Early To Tell’ How Good Vikings Are

With the news of Adrian Peterson’s return to the Minnesota Vikings, fans that were already excited about the 2015 season have seen their level of anticipation raise to insane levels.  It also helps when members of the media are showing a lot of love to the Vikings, like when Mike Florio called the Vikings the 6th best team in the NFL in his power rankings and how NFL.com calls the team one of the top 10 most talented rosters in the league.

It’s hard not to get excited about this young team.  All the young talent that the Vikings have accumulated seems to be developing nicely and the coaching staff appears to be moving them in the right direction.  One of those young players that will have a major impact on Minnesota’s 2015 season is quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

While Bridgewater is ready to accept the challenges this season, he’s not yet ready call the Vikings a great, or even good, team.  Here is what he said according to an article on TwinCities.com from Chris Tomasson:

"“It’s easy to sit here and say how good we can be, but it’s still early June and it’s too early to tell. We have to just continue to get better each day right now. We know that we can’t win the championship in June, so we just have to continue to build chemistry and then take advantage of these (organized team activities this month) and come back in training camp and then we’ll be able to tell how good we’ll be.’’"

And, of course, Bridgewater is right.  The Vikings still have a lot of work to do before they should be considered a playoff contender or a major threat for the NFC North crown.  Fans have to remember that the Vikings had a losing record during their 2014 season, but look to improve on that mark for this year.

But even Teddy himself can’t help but find himself getting excited about at least one part of the Vikings team that he didn’t have available last year: former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson.

"“I’m excited. He’s probably one of the best running backs to ever play in the NFL. I’m pretty excited that he’s back and we just got to continue to get better.’’"

There’s no shame in buying in to the hype surrounding this Minnesota Vikings team.  However, it may be best to taper our expectations a little bit.  Still, it’s hard to not be excited about the direction and talent that this young team has.
