Charles Johnson Wants His Jersey More Available For Fans

Charles Johnson had a breakout year for the Minnesota Vikings last year.  After being signed from the Cleveland Browns practice squad, the dynamic pass catcher worked hard to earn a place on the roster and get some playing time.  To the surprise of many people, he ended up earning a starting role opposite Greg Jennings during Teddy Bridgewater‘s rookie season.

Johnson found playing time in 12 games for the team and accumulated 475 receiving yards as well as two touchdowns.  Many Vikings fans have taken notice of his contributions to the team and many outlets even have him penciled in as a starter for the team.  Still, trying to find his jersey for sale can be a bit of a challenge.

According to an article from the TwinCities.com Pioneer Press’ Chris Tomasson, even Charles Johnson himself is having trouble finding jerseys for his family and has resorted to making adjustments to the jersey of a former player for his father.

"“I can’t get any jerseys for my family,’’ Johnson told the Pioneer Press on Tuesday following a minicamp practice. “My dad wanted a jersey, so I went out and bought some old Percy Harvin jerseys and just took off the Harvin and put Johnson on the back. But, man, I wish I could get my jersey. I wish they’d have my jersey for sale. If they did, I’d be willing to buy them all myself.’’"

New Vikings wide receiver Mike Wallace has a solution to the problem that Charles Johnson has.

"“If he can go out there and make plays, they’ll have them in stores soon enough,” said Minnesota wide receiver Mike Wallace. “If he can go out there and continue how he finished off last year, he’ll have jerseys in no time.”"

Jokingly, Charles Johnson is willing to take on the challenge of having a great season to get his jersey in stores.

"“If that’s what I’ve got to do, I guess I’ll have a great season.”"

Hopefully, by this time next year, the shelves of stores will be covered with #12 jerseys for the Minnesota Vikings.  Only this time, they will have the name “Johnson” on the back instead of “Harvin”.
