Herschel Walker Says Time Off Won’t Hurt Adrian Peterson

You want to watch Herschel Walker talk about whether missing almost a year will hurt Adrian Peterson?

Of course you do. Who doesn’t love to hear from Herschel?

In a sit-down with SI.com, Walker gave his take on Peterson’s return and how sitting out nearly a full season will – or won’t – affect his game:

"I don’t think it’s going to affect Adrian much at all. Remember when he got hurt, the guy came back like he never lost a step. Adrian keeps himself in shape and I think that’s going to play a big part in it."

If there’s one thing Herschel Walker knows about, it’s keeping oneself in shape. Herschel to this day is in such good condition, he says he could come back at the age of 53 and still play in the NFL.

Of course Walker is totally delusional in his assertion that he could still play in the league at 53 but that’s beside the point. He knows what he’s talking about when it comes to playing the running back position in the NFL and what it takes to keep yourself at the right level physically. If Walker says Adrian won’t be affected by a year off, then I believe it.

If recent remarks by Mike Zimmer are any indication, Peterson’s preparation for the season will not include much if any action in the preseason. Looks like we’ll have to wait for real games to see Peterson back on the field.

Check out Herschel’s remarks. He does look good for 53:
