Waynes and his long time friend Melvin Gordon, the former Wisconsin running back who was drafted by the San Diego Chargers, worked out over July 4th weekend at Mayweather’s gym in Las Vegas.

In fact, Mayweather reportedly shut down the gym so Waynes and Gordon could have at it in privacy.

Mayweather himself was not actually present while Waynes and Gordon got after it in his gym, but reportedly the boxer plans to have some one-on-one time with his new students in the near future.

How did the NFL rookies hook up with Mayweather in the first place? Gordon’s rep told TMZ that Gordon and Waynes met Mayweather a few months back and hit it off, so Mayweather offered his services to the young men.

The rep described Waynes and Gordon’s regimen (via TMZ):

"“Mainly they focused on conditioning,” Gordon’s rep tells us … “they ran the treadmill and worked out two hours each day. They even hit the boxing bag a few times.”"
