U.S. Bank Stadium: 5 things you may not know

facebooktwitterreddit

The grand opening of U.S. Bank Stadium is a little over a year away.  As fans, we’ve heard a lot about many features of the new stadium, including the reservoir for ice and snow, the land bridge that will stretch over the street, the snow shield on the roof and more.

But there are some things going into the new stadium haven’t been hyped as much as some of the other amenities.  A recent article on the KFAN website outlined 12 features of U.S. Bank Stadium will have, but some of them weren’t quite as under the radar as others.

Because of that, I have decided to pick out the five best features of U.S. Bank Stadium that you might not have heard of yet.  Here are my top 5 features that fans should be excited about:

  • Club Purple – This is a Las Vegas style lounge with comfortable couch seating and table-side service including food and beverages.  There’s also a big balcony that overlooks the football field.  This is just one of the 131 suites that U.S. Bank Stadium will offer.
  • Hidden WiFi – Everyone loves their phones, but sometimes reception isn’t great, especially inside buildings.  Because of that, there will be WiFi hotspots hidden in the handrails around the stadium.  Now, there’s no reason not to share your love for the Vikings and the view from your seat on your favorite social media site.

“Front Door” Plaza – Just outside the front door of U.S. Bank Stadium is a 3 acre plaza.  This space will be used for all sorts of activities, including concerts, meetings, and tailgating.  Expect this area to be rocking hard before Minnesota Vikings games each week.

  • Downtown East Commons – Adjacent to the stadium is a 4.2 acre park that will have many interesting amenities.  Included in the park will be a skating rink, reflective pool, cafe, patio, and pavilion.  It is estimated that the commons can hold over 7,000 people.
  • Fantasy Football Updates – While some people don’t seem to enjoy fantasy football, others are immersed in it.  Because of that, U.S. Bank Stadium will have two massive screens in the stadium where fantasy football updates will be streaming on each side of the action along with advertisements and other information.
  • Which of those 5 features are you most looking forward to?  Are there other amenities that you are more excited about than these?  And are you planning on using this technology when U.S. Bank opens their doors to the public?  Let me know what you think in the comments below.
