Stephen reported for camp wearing a large bandage on his swollen knee but head coach Mike Zimmer has indicated that the injury is not serious and Stephen should be ready to go in a few days.
A 7th round pick out of Connecticut in 2014, Stephen performed well in his rookie year and is expected to once again be an important part of the Vikings’ defensive line rotation.
The Vikings also announced on Sunday that WR DaVaris Daniels has been placed on the active/non-football-injury list with an undisclosed issue.
The 22-year-old Daniels was signed this year by the Vikings as a UDFA after washing out of Notre Dame with academic issues. Before academic problems derailed Daniels’ college career, the former four-star recruit was viewed as a potential big-time player.
The busy Vikings also announced Sunday that CB Josh Robinson will begin training camp on the PUP list and that LB Casey Matthews has been placed on season-ending IR with a hip injury.
The Vikings also signed kicker Blair Walsh to a 4-year contract extension worth a max of $14 million.
