The 6-6, 315-pound Allen played his college ball at Alabama State and was signed as an undrafted free agent this May by the Washington Redskins. The Redskins released Allen in June.

Allen will reportedly be in for his work out on Tuesday. The Vikings are seeking more offensive line depth after losing starting RT Phil Loadholt to a season-ending Achilles tendon injury.

A report on Monday from ESPN’s Ed Werder said the Vikings had been planning on working out former Colts RT Gosder Cherilus before he was signed by Tampa Bay.

The veteran Cherilus might have been in the mix to replace Loadholt as the starting right tackle. The same can’t be said for Tovar Allen.

The Vikings currently plan to use rookie T.J. Clemmings at right tackle, but things could change if a veteran becomes available.

Another possibility for the Vikings could be to move RG Mike Harris to the RT position and use veteran Joe Berger at RG.

Or the Vikings could sign former Eagles G Evan Mathis and use him at his traditional position of LG, then slide Brandon Fusco over to RG.
