The Minnesota Vikings are set to take on the Oakland Raiders in a preseason week 2 matchup that will pit two second-year quarterbacks against each other.  Vikings passer Teddy Bridgewater has fans in Minnesota excited about the idea of having a solid young option at quarterback while Raiders fans see Derek Carr in a similar role for Oakland.

These two guys know each other fairly well from going through the draft process prior to the 2014 NFL Draft together.  Both waited much longer than they should have, with Bridgewater being selected #32 overall and Derek Carr going #36 overall.  They saw themselves waiting while two other quarterbacks (Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel) had their names called ahead of them.

According to a recent article on the CSN Bay Area website, Derek Carr thinks very highly of Teddy Bridgewater.  Here is what he said in the article:

"“Teddy is a great guy, very quiet. Spent time with him at the combine and all those things,” Carr said this week. “There were the four quarterbacks where they didn’t know where they were going to fall and we were the last two — which I’ll never forget — but I just know that he is a great competitor and a great quarterback.”"

It’s great to see that kind of relationship in a league that tries to pit two players against each other.  This game will be billed as Carr vs. Bridgewater, but it is actually just another step for both of these young guys to improve their game and help building up the franchises they represent.

And while Derek Carr really likes Teddy Bridgewater, there is one time where Carr can’t find himself rooting for the Vikings quarterback.

"“I wish him the world of success, except when we play him,” Carr said. “I definitely root for the guy because he’s a good person. I definitely respect that.”"

You can catch Derek Carr and Teddy Bridgewater two times this NFL season.  The first being this Saturday when the Raiders come to town for their second preseason game and the other being the regular season contest hosted by Oakland during week 10 of the NFL season.
