Minnesota Vikings fill 2015 practice squad

The Minnesota Vikings filled up their practice squad with many of the familiar faces that we saw during the preseason.

Most of these are players that the team released, but hope to be able to develop over time as they gain experience.  Several of them are undrafted free agents that managed to impress the team enough to warrant giving them another look, while others are former draft picks that have shown potential in the past but haven’t quite been able to realize it.

No matter which category these 10 individuals fall in, here is the 2015 Minnesota Vikings practice squad as it currently sits according to ESPN.com:

  • S Anthony Harris
  • DL Zach Moore
  • LB Brian Peters
  • FB Blake Renaud
  • LB Brandon Watts
  • RB Dominique Williams
  • G David Yankey
  • The only name on the last that Minnesota Vikings fans may not recognize is defensive lineman Zach Moore.  Moore was a sixth round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.  He is best known for his pass rush on a play involving Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, where he registered half a sack.  However, Minnesota natives may know him from his time playing college football with the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears.

One name that is missing from this list is linebacker Michael Mauti, who did not clear waivers following his release and was claimed by the New Orleans Saints.

However, it is nice to see guys like Anthony Harris, Brian Peters and Dominique Williams stick with the team at least in the practice squad format for now.
