The 53 man rosters have been set, the practice squads filled, and the regular season kickoff is just two days away. It’s time for everyone do their predictions as to what they think the Minnesota Vikings regular season record will be for the 2015 NFL season.
If you want my take on things, you’ll have to wait for today’s installment of the Purple People Podcast, where my co-hosts Kyle West, Kyle Smith, and I will all give our takes on how we feel the team will finish. However, ESPN’s Ben Goessling took his stab at guessing the final record and came up with a respectable number.
9-7.
Last night, while recording the Purple People Podcast, I came to a similar conclusion to the one that Mr. Goessling said. He broke the game down into wins and losses for each individual game, and here are the losses that he sees the Minnesota Vikings taking during the 2015 NFL season:
Jan 11, 2015; Denver, CO, USA; Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (18) against the Indianapolis Colts in the 2014 AFC Divisional playoff football game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The Colts defeated the Broncos 24-13. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports
Week 4 at Denver Broncos
Week 7 at Detroit Lions
Week 9 vs St. Louis Rams
Week 11 vs Green Bay Packers
Week 13 vs Seattle Seahawks
Week 14 at Arizona Cardinals
Week 17 at Green Bay Packers
This means that the Minnesota Vikings would have a 9-7 overall record, with the team splitting their divisional games 3-3. Against the AFC Conference, the team would be 3-1 with non-divisional NFC opponents splitting against the Vikings 3-3.
What do you guys think? Will the Minnesota Vikings be a 9-7 team during the 2015 NFL season? Will that be good enough to land them a playoff spot in the NFC? And would you see a 9-7 as a big improvement or as a disappointment considering all the hype surrounding the team?
