Adrian Peterson: Teammates excited to have him back

Fans aren’t the only ones who are geeked about seeing Adrian Peterson back on the field of play tonight. His teammates are also pretty stoked.

Sharrif Floyd took a little break from getting ready for the game to tweet his excitement at getting to see AD back out there trucking fools and what not.

I’m sure Floyd is just echoing the sentiments of all his teammates.

And you know which Viking is the most excited to have Adrian out there? Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater had a nice rookie season with Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata as his running backs, and he has to feel like his game will only take another step forward with a top back like Peterson lining up behind him.

Teddy is also hoping that Peterson can emerge as a receiving threat, particularly in dump-off situations.

As Peterson has pointed out himself, he had a nice year catching the ball in 2009 with Brett Favre checking down to him.

Peterson didn’t do nearly as much as a receiver during the Christian Ponder years because Ponder seldom stayed in the pocket and went through his progressions long enough to find his backs open.

Bridgewater has more patience than Ponder so the opportunities should be there for Peterson to catch it in the open field and run.

Whether as a runner or receiver, Peterson should be a huge boon to Bridgewater as he continues to learn the game and grow into a top quarterback.

The excitement is building for everyone as game time nears.
