Cordarrelle Patterson: ‘I’ll be more than ready’ vs Broncos
By Adam Carlson
It’s hard not to be frustrated with Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson.

After the Vikings made a huge trade in the 2013 NFL Draft, Patterson hasn’t made much of a splash in the league as a pass catcher. So far, he’s known as a kick return specialist and a gadget guy that needs touches to be manufactured for him. However, the fans in Minnesota want to see him step up and be an effective pass catcher as well.
Cordarrelle Patterson may get the opportunity to impress his team and fans on Sunday, when the Minnesota Vikings take on the Denver Broncos. As of this writing, wide receiver Charles Johnson has already been ruled out of the game and Jarius Wright is listed as questionable. That means that Patterson could see a lot more time on the field.
In a recent article on the Star Tribune website, head coach Mike Zimmer thinks there could be some opportunities for Patterson with the other wide receivers struggling to stay healthy.
"“He’s been doing a good job all along,” Zimmer said. “He just has to go out there and do it. There may be some opportunities for his this week. We’ll see.”"
As far as him “doing a good job”, I haven’t seen it on the football field in the passing game, so I am led to assume he meant that Patterson is doing well in practices and in the film room. Those words are reassuring, since I personally have lost a lot of faith in Cordarrelle becoming a solid threat as a receiver.
And even though I’m one of the doubters at this point, Patterson doesn’t feel he has much more left to prove.
"“I don’t know how much more I need to prove,” Patterson said. “When my time comes, I just got to be ready, don’t slip up and do anything stupid. It’s always tough for a player sitting on the sideline. You always want to be out there. When my number is called, I’ll be more than ready to get out there and just help my team win.”"
We’ll likely see what Cordarrelle Patterson can do when he see him against a very challenging Broncos defense on Sunday. Hopefully, he’s put in a lot of hard work and can prove the naysayers wrong. This would be a great chance for him to win back some playing time and become a bigger part of the Minnesota Vikings offense going forward.
All he has to do it make the most of this chance.
