Overall Impressions
Overall, it’s always disappointing to lose a close game. I hate when the Minnesota Vikings lose any game, but let’s be honest here…the Denver Broncos are the most likely candidates to be the AFC representatives for the Super Bowl.
That’s not to say that the Vikings should be happy with a loss. This is a young team that is striving to get better every week and that is operating behind a makeshift offensive line made up of mostly backups or first year starters. Still, they were able to give one of the best teams in the league a real run for their money in a game that felt far more important than it really was.
Perhaps the biggest positive to come of this game is that now we know that the Minnesota Vikings defense is for real. Sure, there were some lapses in discipline that led to big plays being given up, but overall they made a future Hall of Fame quarterback struggle mightily at times.
Other than the players I listed above, here are some guys that had good games: Xavier Rhodes, Brian Robison, Mike Wallace, Adam Thielen. And here are a couple that really struggled: T.J. Clemmings, Everson Griffen, and Adrian Peterson (but only when asked to pass block).
The Minnesota Vikings have a bye week next week, but I’ll be back to review the game against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 18, 2015. A game which I am fully planning on attending and being as loud as possible. I hope to see you all there!
