Adrian Peterson will reach out to Jamaal Charles about ACL tear
By Adam Carlson
On the surface, it could appear as though Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Kansas City Chiefs star player Jamaal Charles are enemies. In the media, they are often pitted against each other and even recently were part of a discussion about who the “LeBron James” of the NFL was.
All that silliness aside, these guys understand that they both have to push themselves to the absolute limit in order to succeed in the National Football League. They both strive to be the best at what they do, and they feed off the greatness of each other. That is why when Jamaal Charles suffered a season ending ACL tear last week against the Chicago Bears, it hit Adrian Peterson pretty hard.

A recent article on The Kansas City Star website spoke about how Adrian Peterson fought back from a similar injury back in 2011 only to return for an MVP season. Still, seeing one of the best in the NFL suffer a massive injury like that didn’t sit well with Peterson, even though the Chiefs will be the next team to take on the Minnesota Vikings.
"“It hurt me to the core (to see) my guy go down,” Peterson said. “Me, personally, I’m going to make sure I reach out to him during the offseason because I know he’s back down in Texas and stuff,” Peterson said. “(I will) try and get him to come work out with my guy and, you know, to get him back to doing what he does best.”"
Jamaal Charles isn’t a stranger to ACL injuries either. He tore the ligament in his other knee back in 2011 as well, only to return the next season to rush for over 1,500 yards. Because of this, Adrian expects Charles to bounce back again and return stron in 2016.
"“He has so much talent. He’s one of those guys that has that God-given ability, so with that, I think if he just has his mind right, mentally, and puts the work in, he’ll be just fine.”"
You can see the Minnesota Vikings take on the Kansas City Chiefs from TCF Bank Stadium in Minnesota on October 18, 2015 at noon central time. In the meantime, we at The Viking Age would like to wish Jamaal Charles a full and speedy recovery, as he is one of the most exciting and dynamic players in the National Football League.
