The Minnesota Vikings have unleashed a major weapon onto the National Football League when they activated wide receiver Stefon Diggs against the Denver Broncos for their week 4 game. Since then, the team hasn’t looked back, as the young pass catcher has gone from a deactivated player to starting against the Kansas City Chiefs in week 6.
Diggs has been impressive in his two opportunities so far the for Vikings. In those two games, he’s been targeted by quarterback Teddy Bridgewater 19 times, catching 13 of them for 216 yards while picking up 10 first downs. In fact, he’s been so impressive that head coach Mike Zimmer has gone on to say that he will consider keeping the rookie as a starting wide receiver even when Charles Johnson returns to health.
But Mike Zimmer isn’t the only one impressed with Stefon Diggs. We’ve already heard about veteran wide receiver Mike Wallace comparing Diggs to current NFL superstar and former teammate Antonio Brown, but the players who line up across from him on defense at practice also had amazing things to say about the young man.

Here is what they said according to an article on the Star Tribune website:
Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn: “He’s so special. He’s one of the most polished receivers I’ve ever seen come out of college. I’m glad he dropped into our hands. I feel like we got the steal of the draft. Great routes, great hands, works hard, great attitude.’’
Cornerback Trae Waynes: “Diggs is one of those guys who if you’re going half-speed, he’s still going 100 percent.’’
Cornerback Xavier Rhodes: “He’s really crafty, really smooth on his routes, runs tremendous routes. He’s going to be a great receiver.’’
Safety Harrison Smith: “You never know how things are going to go on Sundays, but day in and day out, that’s what we’ve been seeing. He’s an explosive player with great hands, but for me what’s most impressive is his understanding of the game. He knows how to get that good separation. He’s incredibly well-rounded for such a young player.’’
Cornerback Terrence Newman: “He’s polished. Runs good routes. Quick as a hiccup. Very smooth. When I first got here I was like, ‘Hey, who is this kid?’ I was impressed with him from Day 1. If he keeps his head on straight and keeps doing what he’s doing, he’ll be one to watch. Potential Hall of Famer, down the road.’’
Looking at what Stefon Diggs has done to this point, it would be hard to move him back down the bench. He’s playing like a #1 receiver and has already earned the trust of his young quarterback. However, even though the excitement surrounding Diggs is reaching astronomical levels among the Minnesota Vikings fan base, it’s far too early to be throwing around terms like “Hall of Famer”. Still, it will be a lot of fun watching the rookie wide receiver grow and develop with the team.
You can see more from Stefon Diggs when the Minnesota Vikings take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from Ford Field in Michigan.
