Minnesota Vikings look to end recent Soldier Field woes
By Adam Carlson
The fact that the Minnesota Vikings have been unable to win at Chicago’s Soldier Field in recent years should be mightily concerning. When Minnesota plays the Bears on Sunday, the team will be hoping to break a 7-year trend that has been haunting the organization. Stakes are even higher when you consider that the Vikings have struggled on the road in the past and Chicago is a division opponent.
If the 4-2 Minnesota Vikings want to stay relevant in the playoff hunt, they’ll need to prove that they can do things that they haven’t been able to do in recent history. Considering that the Vikings went into Detroit and beat the Lions last week, momentum might be in Minnesota’s favor, but staring down the seven games that the team has failed to win at Soldier Field puts an uneasy feeling in the stomach of most fans.
Here are the last 7 games the Minnesota Vikings have played against the Bears at Soldier Field:

The good thing for the Vikings is that this is almost a totally different team than the one that last won at Soldier Field. In fact, there are only three players left on the roster from that 2007 team who got to experience a road win against Chicago (Adrian Peterson, Brian Robison and Chad Greenway).

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is aware of the history between these two teams, as he is a Peoria, Illinois native. However, he takes it personally when people think that his team can’t come into Soldier Field and get a win
according to the Star Tribune website
.
"“When people say we lose all of these games, we can’t win a game on the road, we can’t win a game in the division, I just take it personally, I guess,” said Zimmer, a Chicago-area product in his second season as Minnesota’s coach."
It will be interesting to see if the Minnesota Vikings can buck the trend and get a road win against the Chicago Bears. We’ll find out tomorrow and noon central time how the team fares against their rivals from Chicago. Check your local listings for time and availability.
