Minnesota Vikings sign John Lowdermilk to practice squad
By Dan Zinski
The Minnesota Vikings added John Lowdermilk, son of former Vikings center Kirk Lowdermilk, to their practice squad.
John Lowdermilk was born in Edina, MN and played safety at the University of Iowa. And now he’s a member of the Vikings practice squad.
Lowdermilk is also the son of former Viking Kirk Lowdermilk, who some of you may be old enough to remember.
I think I still have his football card somewhere.
The younger Lowdermilk was signed by the Chargers in May 2015 as an undrafted free agent but was let go during final cuts.
At Iowa in 2014, the 6-2, 210-pound Lowdermilk was named honorable mention all-Big 10. He received the same honor in 2013.

Lowdermilk ran a 4.65 40 at his pro day in March with a 33 1/2 inch vertical jump.
In February 2015, Lowdermilk was arrested for OWI after being pulled over by University of Iowa police with a busted tail light.
Should you for any reason wish to follow Mr. Lowdermilk on Twitter, this appears to be his account.
Lowdermilk apparently does not consider being signed to the Vikings practice squad a life event worth tweeting about. Or maybe he’s real busy.
The Vikings added Lowdermilk to their practice squad after waiving LB Terrance Plummer.
Mike Zimmer mentioned earlier in the week that S Anthony Harris could be called up from the practice squad for depth, what with the injuries to Harrison Smith and Andrew Sendejo.
