K-Will could have easily ended up as a mere quirky footnote in Vikings history.

The day Williams was drafted, the Vikings suffered an apparent brain fart and allowed the time to expire on their turn to pick, letting two teams rush in and pick ahead of them before themselves selecting Williams ninth overall.

Conspiracy theorists think the Vikings did this on purpose so they could move down a couple slots and save a few bucks when negotiating Williams’ contract.

Thankfully for Williams, his play on the field allowed him to easily live down the bizarre story of how he was drafted.

Seventh pick or ninth pick, Williams ended up having a great career in Minnesota as a defensive tackle.

Williams had his best years when paired with fellow dominating tackle Pat Williams to form the vaunted Williams Wall.

K-Will went to six Pro Bowls and was named All-Pro five times.
