The Minnesota Vikings have finalized their purchase of a 185-acre site from Delta Air Lines in Eagan, Minnesota for future property development.
It wasn’t that long ago that the Minnesota Vikings were taking a look at a chunk of land in Eagan, Minnesota. The speculation is that the land would be home to the new practice facility for the team.
With Minnesota signing a deal through 2018 to make Mankato their official training camp facility, the time frame is right to allow development and construction of the land.
It was announced yesterday that the land purchase was finalized. The Vikings used Opportunity Partners Fund IV to help them complete the transaction with Delta Air Lines. The financial details of the deal were not released, but the team’s purchase of the land does lead us to believe that it will eventually be used for the football squad in the future.
Team owner and chairman Zygi Wilf spoke about the purchase in a statement late Tuesday according to The Dickinson Press:
"“We continue to believe this 185-acre site offers many positive attributes, including space and flexibility, proximity to downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as to the airport, and an opportunity to transform a vacant piece of property for the benefit of the community and the region.”"
The Minnesota Vikings seem to want to upgrade just about everything to do with the team. For the 2016 NFL season, the Vikings will move into their new home at U.S. Bank Stadium and the surrounding area has also been marked for renovation.
