Mike Harris has reportedly returned to the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year deal worth around $1.75 million.

The re-shaping of the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive line has begun in earnest.

Earlier Wednesday it was reported that the Vikings will sign free agent guard Alex Boone to a contract. Boone is expected to play left guard for Minnesota.

With Boone moving in at left guard, the Vikings will likely move Brandon Fusco back to right guard, the position he played with a fair amount of success in 2014.

But where does that leave 2015 starting right guard Mike Harris?

Harris is still in the mix for Minnesota after reportedly signing a new one-year contract worth “in the range of $1.75 million.” Harris’ signing was first reported by Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.

Reports on Monday and Tuesday had free agent Harris drawing interest from the New York Giants. Harris was reportedly seeking a two-year deal worth around $5 million.

Harris obviously didn’t get his two-year deal, but he does get to return to Minnesota for 2016 and compete for the starting right guard job.

As of today, the Vikings have Matt Kalil as the starter at left tackle, Alex Boone at left guard, Joe Berger penciled in at center pending news on John Sullivan’s back, a right guard competition between Brandon Fusco and Mike Harris and a right tackle competition between T.J. Clemmings and Phil Loadholt.

And no matter how things shake out, the Vikes have way more depth on the offensive line right now than they did last year. And we haven’t even gotten to the draft yet.
