Minnesota Vikings: Five potential late-round receiver targets
By Dan Zinski
Geronimo Allison – Illinois
The 6-3, 196-pound Allison put on a nice show at the East-West Shrine Game, catching two touchdowns. Scouts like Allison’s competitiveness and he obviously has good height, though his frame is a bit lanky. Scouts praise his ability to beat press coverage with quickness and also give him high marks for his blocking ability. His deep speed is not great and some question whether he can be a true vertical threat in the NFL. His hands are inconsistent.
After not playing football his junior or senior season in high school, Allison spent a couple years in junior college before heading to Illinois. In other words he’s a bit on the raw side and will have a learning curve in the NFL. If the Vikings do look at Allison in the late rounds it would only be as a project player and not as someone who could step right in and contribute. Allison is a very hard worker and scouts are impressed at the way he’s grown after falling behind in his development by missing those two years of high school ball.
