Jared Allen was a wild man on the football field, and sometimes he was an even wilder man off it.

Last week Jared Allen signed a one-day contract and retired as a Minnesota Viking. Even though he started his career with Kansas City and spent the last couple years in Chicago and Carolina, making a Super Bowl run with the Panthers in his final season, Allen made it clear which team was his favorite.

Via Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

"“But Minnesota was my heart,” he said. “Six great years, not only with football but I met my wife when I was there, I got married when I was there, I had my first child there. There are just so many life memories there that, from top to bottom in that organization, I feel a part of it. … I can say now that I’m a Viking for the remainder of my time on Earth.”"

Jared Allen not only produced big-time for the Vikings, racking up 85 1/2 sacks in 96 games as a member of the purple including a near-record 22 in 2011, he also provided many memorable moments of sheer entertainment.

And not all of Jared’s most entertaining antics took place between the white lines. Allen will not only go down as a great player, he will be remembered as one of the craziest and most hilarious characters ever to suit up in the NFL.

Let’s take a minute to remember Jared Allen, certified Crazy Man.
