#1: Los Angeles Rams – Jared Goff, QB Cal

  • The Rams aren’t going to trade up for anything other than a quarterback, and Goff might have the highest floor of any of the available passers in the draft. Right now, Los Angeles has many of the pieces to be a top team, with a great defense, a franchise running back, and more. Now, Goff can take the helm of one of the biggest markets in the NFL.

#2: Philadelphia Eagles – Carson Wentz, QB NDSU

  • Like the Rams, Philadelphia wants to find that franchise quarterback of the future. While they do still have Sam Bradford on their roster, that just means that if the team feels Wentz needs a little time to develop that they can have him sit for a season before starting him. Wentz has a ton of potential but also is a higher risk of being a bust than Goff.

#3: San Diego Chargers – Laremy Tunsil, OT Ole Miss

  • The Chargers have to be in heaven, as the best player available meets their biggest team need. Last year was brutal for San Diego’s offensive line and showed that they lack depth and even starting caliber players all over the line. If not for the quarterback frenzy, Tunsil had a solid chance of being the #1 overall pick, but this pick will help buy Philip Rivers some time in the pocket.

#4: Dallas Cowboys – Joey Bosa, DE Ohio State

  • It was a coin flip here between Bosa or Jalen Ramsey, but in the end Dallas needs to establish that pass rush first to find out if they actually do have capable cornerbacks on the roster. Plus, there are other great options for corners available in later rounds and getting to opposing quarterbacks should be the top priority of a team that struggled against the pass last year.

#5: Jacksonville Jaguars – DeForest Buckner, DE Oregon

  • Before the knee concerns, I had Myles Jack falling no farther than here. But now, Jacksonville might want a more sure-fire prospect to help them establish a pass rush just like Dallas. For them, Buckner is a great choice, as he is athletic and can make an immediate impact on a defense that needs to prove it can make opposing teams nervous.
