The Minnesota Vikings are helping to promote a Making Strides Against Cancer walk to help in the fight against breast cancer this October.

The Minnesota Vikings have never been an organization to shy away from events that are a great cause. This time, the team is working with U.S. Bank Stadium to help promote a walk to provide awareness and help raise money to help in the fight against breast cancer.

Called Making Strides Against Cancer, the event will be held on October 15, 2016. This walk will happen during the Minnesota Vikings bye week and start at U.S. Bank Stadium and will be sponsored by the Minnesota Vikings and KFAN Radio according to an article on Vikings.com.

This is a cause close to many people’s hearts, including head coach for the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders and Director of Women’s Initiatives Tami Krause, who finds this event to be an important step in awareness and developing a relationship between the organization and the franchise.

"“My mom is a breast cancer survivor, so it personally touches me,” Krause said. “But I also know the impact we can have by partnering together. We have a longstanding relationship between the American Cancer Society and the Minnesota Vikings, and we’re just excited about taking that to a new level this year in all different areas […]. We can do exciting things together, and this is just the first step.”"

David Benson, Executive Vice President of the Midwest Division for the American Cancer Society, is also excited to continue growing the partnerships between the Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium, and the Midwest Division for the American Cancer Society.

"“This is something bigger than we’ve ever done – something bold,” said Benson."

Right now, there is no way to register for the walk, but having the date in mind will allow interested parties to clear their calendars for the event. Odds are that this event will lead into the Minnesota Vikings program called A Crucial Catch, which also helps promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds for research.
