To find out more about Kearse, The Viking Age called upon Andrew Boardwine of FanSided’s Clemson site Rubbing The Rock to ask him five questions about just who this player is and what kind of talent he brings to Minnesota at the safety position.

Here are the 5 questions asked for Mr. Boardwine:

What is the greatest asset that Jayron Kearse brings to the Minnesota Vikings?

"“Kearse’s greatest asset is his athleticism. He takes great angles to the ball and is extremely physical. He was one of the leading defensive backs for Clemson football for the first part of the season and very well may be a star in the NFL. He is big, physical, and fast. That combination is great to have in a safety or nickel should the Vikings go that route.”"

Are there any reasons why Vikings fans should be concerned about this pick?

"“As I said, Jayron Kearse could very well be a star in the NFL, but the reason he fell so far down in the draft is because he basically quit the second half of the season. I think he was already looking ahead to the NFL and basically, after the Miami game, decided it was better to not risk getting injured and you didn’t know he was on the field. That is a cause for concern, but I believe now that he has things on the line to compete for, you will see the Jayron Kearse of old back. If he does, you will see a first or second round talent competing on the field in the summer and fall for the Vikings.”"

What is your overall impression of Kearse as a college football player?

"“One of the most athletic and strong safeties in all of College Football during his time. Kearse takes great angles and, as a matter of fact, saved a couple of games for Clemson during his time as a Tiger. Great College Football player and that should translate to the NFL.”"

How will Jayron Kearse will transition to the NFL?

"“Kearse’s speed and athleticism will at least get him snaps on the field as a rookie, but it may take him a year or two to transition in the NFL. Once he develops, however, he will be a great asset for the Vikings.”"

Do you have any final impressions on Kearse that you’d like to leave Vikings fans with?

"“When you think Jayron Kearse, think “raw athleticism and supreme physicality.” He is extremely talented and will prove to be a solid option for the Vikings.”"

A huge thanks go out to Andrew Boardwine of FanSided’s Rubbing The Rock for taking the time to answer these questions for The Viking Age. It sounds as though Kearse fits what the Minnesota Vikings look for in athleticism, but may need some time to acclimate to the professional level. If he can continue to grow and develop, Kearse might prove to be a valuable investment that the Vikings picked up on the cheap.
