The Minnesota Vikings have all but one of their selections from the 2016 NFL Draft under contract, pushing the team even closer to playing in the preseason.

In the past, signing draft picks to their rookie deals was a huge headache. Even middle to late round picks were stuck negotiating deals that sometimes kept the player on the sidelines for some of minicamp. Thankfully, that’s not how things work in the NFL anymore.

The Minnesota Vikings got a lot of that work out of the way, getting 7 of the team’s 8 draft picks under contract and ready to roll for the 2016 NFL season. This has been a priority of the team since the new collective bargaining agreement was put in place by the NFL, as signing these players can help the team focus on other issues. It also helps eliminate the fear or rookie holdouts, which was a big issue before the NFLPA an NFL agreed to the new system.

It is great news that the Minnesota Vikings were able to come to terms with these players before minicamp begins. Here are the Minnesota Vikings 2016 draft picks who have signed their rookie contracts according to Vikings.com:

More from The Viking Age

  • CB Mackensie Alexander – #20
  • G Willie Beavers – #64
  • LB Kentrell Brothers – #40
  • WR Moritz Boehringer
 – #81
  • TE David Morgan – #89
  • DE Stephen Weatherly – #64
  • S Jayron Kearse – #27

By looking over that list, it is easy to see that the only Minnesota Vikings draft pick not to come to terms with the team to this point is first round draft pick Laquon Treadwell. However, fans shouldn’t be concerned with the rookie wide receiver who will wear the #11 jersey, as first round draft picks typically wait to see what the market value of other selections in their general area get before signing their contracts.
