The Minnesota Vikings came up with a funny way to add some painfully awkward old school charm to their rookie headshots.
Part of being an NFL rookie is coming in for minicamp and taking your official headshot. The Minnesota Vikings this year decided to have a little fun with that whole process by having their rookies pose in front of a cheesy laser background straight out of sixth grade picture day.
Some of the results are pretty hilarious.
Apparently, the prop football for Laquon Treadwell’s pic was provided by the New England Patriots.
Linebacker Kentrell Brothers really got into it.
A slideshow of the entire shoot is available here. I would advise you to check out the Joel Stave pic. It could possibly be described as a little too painfully accurate to the whole “grade school picture day” thing. I don’t think Stave was trying to look like a gawky teenager, I think that’s just how he looks.
Rookie minicamp weekend turned out to be pretty eventful for everyone involved. A bunch of players got their first taste of Zimmer Academy, fans got their first very very preliminary look at all the draft picks we’ve been so excited about, and new teammates got their first chance to bond.
There were also a couple of roster moves.

The only thing we didn’t see was a victory in the whole play-in punter competition. The Vikings brought in Nick O’Toole and Taylor Symmank but thus far there has been no word on how either of those guys did.
The Vikes will now reportedly take a look at former NDSU punter Ben LeCompte as soon as he’s done participating in Bears rookie minicamp. Reportedly, whichever punter the Vikings decide to sign will get to duke it out with Jeff Locke in camp.
