The Minnesota Vikings have named 3M as their Official Science Partner, meaning the company will have a presence inside newly constructed U.S. Bank Stadium.

As U.S. Bank Stadium gets closer to its grand opening, the Minnesota Vikings and the city of Minneapolis have been announcing many new partnerships, attractions and features for the billion dollar facility. Now, a new partnership will pair one of Minnesota’s biggest businesses with their professional football team.

According to the announcement on the Vikings.com website, the partnership between The Minnesota Vikings and 3M will make the iconic brand the Official Science Partner of the team. What that means is that 3M will have prominent advertising around the stadium as well as make them the official supplier of the first aid stations.

Here is what Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf had to say about the partnership:

"“3M is a company that is synonymous with science and innovation in the minds of millions of people around the world. We are thrilled to work with a Minnesota-based global innovator like 3M to enhance the game day experience for Vikings fans.”"

From the other perspective, 3M vice president and chief marketing officer Don Branch sees this partnership as a great opportunity to make their business more visible and use their scientific technology in an applied setting.

"“We’re proud to partner with the Minnesota Vikings to help bring the story of 3M science to an even broader audience. We can apply our science in so many ways to help provide customer solutions.  More than 50 3M products have gone into the design and build of this architectural marvel – U.S. Bank Stadium.”"

This should be a great partnership for both parties, as 3M is one of the most identifiable businesses in the state and putting them on display in U.S. Bank Stadium and allowing them to use their technology in other ways could be a very interesting way to promote their brand.
