Many followers of the Minnesota Vikings don’t care for bandwagon fans, but defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd welcomes those individuals to buy into the Vikings.

It’s inevitable. When a team becomes a contender and looks to be a good team, fans will come out of the woodwork to support them and start rooting for a team they normally wouldn’t be as vocal about. These are called ‘bandwagon fans’ and most hardcore fans don’t like those individuals.

With the success that the Minnesota Vikings had last year and the things they have done to improve for the 2016 NFL season, it’s a given that the team will be one of those which will see a growing in the fan base, with much of that being bandwagon fans.

However, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. When a team is playing well and new fans emerge, that means louder crowds, more merchandise sold, and many other good things are happening. Of course, the best thing is that the team is doing well enough to attract these fair-weather fans.

More from The Viking Age

Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd is excited about the 2016 NFL season and sees the team getting even better this year according to an article on Scout.com:

"“I think our improvement last year was due to everyone being comfortable individually and as a unit,” Floyd said. “There’s a lot more we can still build on and the coaches can add more things because we see the game in a different light.”"

If the Minnesota Vikings can be an even better team this year than last, the bandwagon may fill up even more. But that’s something Floyd is okay with, as he appreciates the fans who have been there all along, but welcomes those just joining the party.

"“For the past two years, we’ve been believing in us and the fans have been believing in us. That’s all we really need going forward. Everyone else, they can jump on the bandwagon if they want. We’re going to take it from here.”"
