Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was unavailable for his scheduled interview with the media on Tuesday due to having a ‘minor medical procedure’.

Each week, the Minnesota Vikings open up their coaching staff and some of their players to fans after a practice or meeting to discuss the events of the team’s recent history or take a look ahead at the challenges before them.

This week, it was a bit of a surprise when head coach Mike Zimmer was unavailable to speak with the media during the regularly scheduled meeting the day after a game due to the coach having a ‘minor medical procedure’ done according to the Associated Press.

At this time, there is no information about the medical condition of the Minnesota Vikings head coach or what the minor procedure done was, but hopefully it will not have any impact on the team’s preparations for their week 9 game against the Detroit Lions.

The team will hope to bounce back after back-to-back losses against the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Although they are still 5-2 entering week 9 and currently at the top of the NFC North, their two game slide has fans worried about holding on to that top spot.

Of course, much of the Vikings success to this point has to do with Zimmer turning the Minnesota defense around and getting the best out of young players on the roster while leaning on veterans for leadership and stability.

The importance of Mike Zimmer to the Minnesota Vikings cannot be understated. His ability to create unique pressure on defense and get the most of his players is something rare among the NFL’s coaches, but the health and future of Zimmer should be the priority going forward.
