Chad Greenway was named the Minnesota Vikings Community Man of the Year for the 4th time due to his tireless charitable deeds and commitment to community.

On the football field, Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway has a reputation as a hard-nosed player who has a keen eye for picking apart plays as a leader on the defensive side of the ball.

However, some of Greenway’s biggest accomplishments come when he isn’t suited up with cleats on. Some of his best moments come when he uses his personal time and generosity to give back to the community and help those in need.

Whether talking about Chad’s Lockers, the TendHERheart luncheon, Field of Dreams, buying vehicles for families with special needs, or donating to get a playground built, his Lead The Way Foundation is always working hard to help those in need.

More from The Viking Age

The Minnesota Vikings recognized that effort according to an article on the St. Paul Pioneer Press website, stating that he has been named the Vikings Community Man of the Year for the third time in a row and fourth time overall.

Not only is that a fantastic award for a very deserving individual, but it once again makes him a nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. That award is similar to the Vikings Community Man of the Year award, but will put Greenway against one representative from each team in the NFL.

With Greenway expected to retire following the 2016 NFL season, some of the other charitable members of the Minnesota Vikings will have a shot at he Vikings Community Man of the Year award. But, until he’s done lacing up his cleats, he will always be the frontrunner for the honor.
