The Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday that they have placed defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd on injured reserve, thus ending any shot of him returning to the field this season.
In something that has been expected for quite awhile now, the Minnesota Vikings have announced that defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd has been placed on injured reserve. The team also announced the promotion of defensive tackle Toby Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster.
Floyd has not played in a game this season since Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. The defensive tackle has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery a couple of months ago.

Since getting drafted in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft out Florida, Floyd has not exactly lived up to the expectations that come with being selected with such a high pick. In 44 career games, the defensive lineman has a total of 95 tackles and 9.5 sacks.
Prior to the 2016 season, the Vikings decided to pick up Floyd’s fifth year option. The thought would be that the defensive tackle would be on the roster for at least another season, but that may now be in question after his absence from most of this season with an injury.
Minnesota has until March 2017 when his contract becomes guaranteed to make a decision on Floyd’s future with the team.
