Linebacker Kentrell Brothers stepped up in a big way for the Minnesota Vikings on special teams, and was praised by Pro Football Focus for his efforts.

There are some positions in the NFL that get all the glory. Quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs can all become household names, but some of the toughest plays to make won’t be seen in the Minnesota Vikings highlights on SportsCenter.

Some of the biggest unsung heroes of the team are the ones who play on special teams. Establishing field position on kickoffs and punts doesn’t sound like a huge deal, but can mean a lot when it comes to stopping opponents drives or setting up an offense.

Rookie linebacker Kentrell Brothers was recently praised for his work on special teams according to a piece on the Pro Football Focus website, earning two spots on list of ‘The best special teams players in the NFL in 2016’.

Next, PFF turned their attention to the return game, where the blocking of Brothers has made the Vikings rookie the only player to appear on their list two times.

"Return blocker: Kentrell Brothers, Minnesota VikingsStat to know: Only player to make two units on the All-PFF Special Teams teams, played all but one of his kick return snaps on the front wall."
